Upcoming Events

We will be holding our Bank Holiday Special weekend over the May Bank Holiday (5th, 6th, &7th May); activities to include scarecrow making on the Sunday and Monday, rides on the Derwent Valley Light Railway and living history on site over the long weekend. On May 19th & 20th the museum plays host the Friends of Ferguson Heritage Group who will be holding their annual two day rally here at the museum. This is a new event and is not in our published programme! Details will follow or see the events page of website for all up to date details.

Derwent Valley Light Railway at Railfest 2012

The Derwent Valley Light Railway based here at the museum will be taking part at the National Railway Museum’s (NRM) Railfest event 2012. They are running a competition in partnership with other Railway Heritage groups in Yorkshire to win a free family ticket to the Railfest event. Collect a competition sheet from any of the participating attractions (North York Moors Railway, Middleton Railway, Elsecar Heritage Railway, Embassy and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and the Derwent Valley Light Railway). Livestock News

The new livestock are settling in. Oddball, our rabbit recently gave birth to a litter of ten healthy rabbits! Herbert the Jersey calf is enjoying jumping around in his new outdoor pen. The lambs are getting much bigger and are starting to wean off their milk. Our two new pigs (Large Black) are getting more sociable but we are still thinking of names for them. Anyone wanting to email suggestions please feel free!
