What’s On

Please Note: The site will be closed on Sunday 8th October for the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon. Good Luck to all competitors and supporters.

Throughout the 2017 season, the museum will be hosting a range of special events and themed weekends. Check this page out on a regular basis to follow the exciting programme as it takes shape over the next few months. Whilst we make every effort to keep this calendar up to date, occasionally changes to the programme and cancellations of events may take place due to circumstances beyond our control. If there is an event that you are particularly interested in, or a re-enactment group scheduled to appear that you would particularly like to see, it is always recommended that you telephone the museum in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you would be interested in hosting or organising an event at Murton Park, please contact us via enquiries@murtonpark.co.uk to discuss your ideas.

Throughout the season, the Derwent Valley Light Railway will run a scheduled service for visitors every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday (no additional charge).

Santa Special 2017!

Yes folks it’s that time of year and once again here at Murton we will be swinging into action as the nerve centre for Santa’s Christmas plans.

The Derwent Valley Light Railway will be providing Santa with train transport to ensure that the whole  operation runs smoothly and the highly skilled and efficient team of Elves under the direction of Chief Elf Bauble will be handling things on the village. What could possibly go wrong! (There is a rumour that the Elves this year have decided to go into politics – but who will get your vote, we wonder?)

As a special treat, members of the public are cordially invited to drop by to be amazed and astounded in equal measure on the following dates in December:

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th

Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd

Doors open at 09:30, last admissions 15:00 sharp!

Every child will receive a gift from Santa on the train and adults will be treated to a mince pie and complimentary glass of sherry or a soft drink in the main building. Our cafeteria will be open throughout every day serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks.

Charges: Adult £7, Child £9
