Viking school holiday activities

Monday July 23rd till Friday 31st August (Weekdays only)

After the success of our ‘Be a Viking’ event for the Jorvik Viking Festival in February we thought that it would be brilliant to once again open up our award winning Viking school activities for all.

Each weekday of the school holidays there will be three mini bites sessions on the reconstructed Viking village to take part in. These will take place at 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00. Our staff have a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasms so the activities shall vary. These could include spear and shield practice, making a clay lamp, playing a Viking board game, talk about life in a Viking longhouse, fire lighting, what the Vikings ate, Viking navigation and much more. If you have a particular interest in one of the activities give please us a call  near the time on 01904 489966 to check what will be on the day you are planning to visit.

The Vikings were wonderful craftspeople and for that very reason there are wonderful decorations throughout our Viking village. There is a trail to try these wonderful pieces of art. Then afterwards you can come inside and use them as inspiration to either colour in or create your very own Viking masterpiece to take home with you.

All of this is included in the standard admission price.

Do note that once the ‘mini-bites’ have begun it may not be possible to join in part way through.

On August 1st there will be no Viking activities as it is Yorkshire Day! Have a look to see what we have planned for Yorkshire Day by clicking here.
