Welcome to Brigantium - a large outdoor classroom cunningly disguised as a Roman Auxilliary for of the 1st Century AD. The duty centurion is always on the lookout for new recruits and with his assistant is able to put groups of up to 65 children through a rigorous introduction to life in the Roman army.
Equipped with their uniform, helmet, spear and shield, the young recruits are put through their paces learning how a fort is built and laid out before going on to learn the skills of weapons training (using dummy weapons!), guard duty, craft work, and parade ground drill. Successful recruits are always proud to earn their days pay and diploma.
Educational Visits can be booked for a full day (5 hours) or a half day (2.5 hours).
A full day on the Roman Fort costs £13 per child A half day per child per costs £9.00 A minimum of 4 adults is required for both full and half days.
For school parties of 40 pupils or more it becomes 1 adult free for every 10 children. Maximum of 65 pupils
