This experience offers much more than just a visit with Santa; it’s a day out that includes a train ride with the DVLR and Fladam, a lively show featuring Mother Christmas, and storytelling with Humbug the Elf, among other activities. So, come and get into the festive spirit at Murton Park!

Christmas at Murton Park

Stroll through Santa’s village and meet his playful elves before heading to his log cabin for a visit to meet him, along with other children! You’ll have the chance to share your Christmas wishes, and in return, Santa will give each of you some special North Pole currency to spend in his Magical Toy Shop.

After your visit, you can snap a lovely photo with Santa! You’ll also have the chance to write a special wish to hang on our wish tree, take a peek inside Santa and Mother Christmas’s charming home, and enjoy some festive activities around the village.

Prices

Tickets are £12* per adult, £23* per child, and £6* for children aged 0-1 year old, and are available to book online only.

IMPORTANT: The time slot you choose for Christmas at Murton Park is the time that you will visit Santa. You can arrive at any time, as long as you are on site at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time with Santa.

The first train is due to run at 9.45 am and the last train at 5.05 pm. The last Mother Christmas show is at 4.30 pm. If you book a later slot with Santa, we suggest arriving a little earlier to take a train ride and to see Mother Christmas’s show first.

After visiting the Magical Toy Shop to spend your North Pole pound – and make a special bag of reindeer food to leave out on Christmas Eve (grown-ups, you get a mince pie on the house) – the next adventure is entirely in your hands!

The Polar ‘Pizza’ Express!

Fladam TheatreAll aboard for the Polar ‘Pizza’ Express with award-nominated Fladam Theatre, and the Derwent Valley Light Railway, where polar bear chefs extraordinaire – Flo and Adam are on an adventure to save Christmas dinner!

Flo and Adam’s tinselled, turkey-topped pizzas are everyone’s favourite festive snack at the North Pole! But a runaway Christmas Pud (or could it be the Grumpus? Back by popular demand) has scattered the toppings all over the train – can you help find them?! Or will it be a big bowl of lumpy gruel on the big day?!

There will also be an opportunity for the kids to suggest their own Crimbo toppings – the crazier the better! ❄️🐻‍❄️

The last train is at 5.05 pm. If you book a later slot with Santa, please arrive earlier in the day to make sure that you can fit everything in beforehand and don’t miss out.

🎨 Christmas Crafts – Get creative with craft activities perfect for little hands

The Yorkshire Barn Café – Warm up in our main building café with homemade meals, sweet treats, and festive drinks. From Saturday 5th December, a pop-up café will also be available in the John Sawkill Building for your convenience.

There will be marshmallows available for roasting in Santa’s village, too (a charge applies)!

Not forgetting Mother Christmas… she needs your help!

The sleigh is almost out of power, the holiday plans are in jeopardy, and her long-suffering assistant Snowglobe is trying desperately to keep everything under control.

Join them for festive songs, Airport Elfercise, some Makaton signing, Christmas chaos and Mother Christmas’s famously cheeky Christmas story as they attempt to generate enough Christmas joy to launch the sleigh.

Will Mother Christmas finally get her dream holiday in the sunshine?

Or will penguins win the day?

A fast-paced, panto-style Christmas adventure packed with laughter, audience participation and festive fun.

SEN Quiet Weekend

For a more relaxed experience, consider booking tickets on the first weekend, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, when Santa slots are longer and less crowded.

FAQs

Where is Murton Park?

We are located to the East of York in the Village of Murton. The postcode is YO19 5UF.

Conveniently, this is near the A64, making it incredibly easy by car. You can follow brown signs for ‘Yorkshire Museum of Farming’. If you are feeling energetic, we are also on Sustrans cycle route 66.

When you arrive, please follow signs showing you where to park.

What dates is the Christmas event running?

Christmas at Murton Park runs throughout November/December: Sat 28th/Sun 29th November, Sat 5th/Sun 6th December, Sat 12th/Sun 13th December & Sat 19th-Tues 22nd December.

Sessions start at 9.20 am, every 20 minutes until 4.20 pm every day, apart from Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, when slots are every 30 minutes from 9.30 am.

Can we pay on the door?

All tickets must be pre-booked at www.murtonpark.co.uk

We are unable to accept walk-ins on the day.

What if my child is older and doesn’t want a present from Santa?

You can purchase a £12 adult ticket for Christmas at Murton Park.

Do I have to pay for my baby?

Christmas at Murton Park: Tickets for a babe-in-arms (under the age of one) are £6 and include a gift. We do ask that, in the audience with Santa, they sit on an adult’s knee.

Do adults pay?

Christmas at Murton Park: Yes, it is £12 for an adult. As well as the experience of taking a train ride, Mother Christmas’s show, walking through Santa’s village, meeting the elves and having an audience with Santa, all adults will receive a mince pie.

The only exception to this is carers with a valid carer’s card, who will be charged £8 each.

Do carers pay?

Christmas with Murton Park: Yes, it is £8 per carer with a valid carer’s card. Tickets must be booked in advance on www.murtonpark.co.uk

Are tickets refundable?

All tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend the event, we require 24 hours notice. We will do our best to transfer you to another date for the 2027 event.

Can I bring a dog?

Unfortunately it is not possible to bring a dog to the Christmas event. We also ask that dogs are not left in cars whilst you attend the event.

What if I miss my slot with Santa?

We can only fit a certain number of people into the audience with Santa. If there is space, we will try to accommodate you, but it may not be possible.

 

What time should I arrive?

We ask that you arrive at the site 30 minutes before your booked slot with Santa. You will be welcomed into Santa’s village 10 minutes before your slot.

How long will the visit last?

We expect the visit to the site to last around 2 hours; however, you are welcome to stay and play/explore the site all day should you wish to do so.

Is there food available on site?

Yes, the Yorkshire Barn Café will be serving homemade tasty meals/lunches as well as snacks and hot and cold drinks.

Can I buy additional mince pies for my children?

Yes, of course, in the Toyshop all adults will receive a free mince pie and you will be able to buy additional ones and other tasty treats if you wish.

Can I bring my child in a buggy?

We know little legs can get tired and are welcome in buggies everywhere except in the audience with Santa; this is due to space (however, there will be a buggy park outside Santa’s cabin). We are also not able to fit buggies on the train; however, there will be a buggy park at the station.

 

How much of this event takes place outdoors?

Large parts of this event are outdoors. The audience with Santa and the Magic Toy shop are under cover, but warm outdoor clothing is strongly advised.

 

What happens if it rains?

We operate in all weathers. The audience with Santa, the Magic Toyshop and the main building where the toilets and shop are situated are all undercover. We strongly advise winter clothing.

Will the toilet facilities be open?

Yes, the toilets will be open. We have a dedicated member of staff on site who will be cleaning them throughout the day.
