Following your visit, you can capture a memorable photo with Santa, write a wish to hang on our wish tree, sneak a peek inside his and Mrs. Christmas’ home, and enjoy some festive activities throughout the village.

After exploring the magical toy shop and using your North Pole pound, the next adventure is entirely up to you!

  • The John Sawkill building houses the Cheeky Elf Driving School—drive with care, Santa’s watching any speedsters! (No one wants to land on the naughty list!)
  • In the main area, Tink the Elf is eager to craft with you in her delightful workshop.
  • And there’s more. We’re talking free reindeer food for the kids (because who can forget Rudolph?), and adults get a scrumptious mince pie, on the house!
  • Feeling peckish? The Yorkshire Barn Café in the main building tempts you with homemade meals and sweet treats. Plus, enjoy some festive drinks! A pop-up in the John Sawkill building will also appear from December 6, 2025.

All aboard!

We’re thrilled to share that Fladam Theatre—renowned for their award-nominated production ‘Green Fingers’ and the chilling success ‘Hallowbean’—will once again provide your onboard entertainment at the Derwent Valley Light Railway this Christmas. Join them for a delightful, musical, and enchanting mini festive spectacle!

Not forgetting Mother Christmas…

School’s in session with the fabulously festive (and delightfully mischievous) Mother Christmas – and her equally impish teaching assistant Elf! Step into their classroom for 20 minutes of yuletide mayhem – packed with Elfercise, singalongs, slapstick silliness, and special moments of Makaton signing to make sure everyone can join in the fun. You’ll learn your ABCs (All Boxes Covered), master essential elf-skills, and – if you pass – earn your place as one of Santa’s Stealth Elves, keeping an eye out for who’s naughty and who’s nice. The grand finale? Mother Christmas’s famously cheeky version of Twas The Night Before Christmas. A wonderfully wild class full of mischief and magic – and definitely one you won’t want to miss!
