The week of 19th-25th August is all about the Vikings:

ALL WEEK:

Garden games in the park. FREE with an annual pass.

STORYTELLING: Monday 19th August, 11am & 2pm

Join us for storytelling in the Long House. FREE with an annual pass.

LIVING HISTORY DAY: Tuesday 20th August, 10am-3pm

The day includes a textile demonstration with Yma using drop spindle and spindle worls and tablet weaving with Ubba. Katla will show you how dyes were created from plants. Bjorn will demonstrate leather working whilst Gorm and Skalla will be playing Viking games. Optional rune stick making at £2 per person (payable on the day).

MUSEUM WEDNESDAY: Wednesday 21st August, 10am-3pm

With a ‘Cow’ theme, you will:

  • Have a go at making butter
  • Can you design a cattle farm?
CRAFT ACTIVITY: Thursday 22nd August, 10.30am-12.30pm

Decorate a mask to take home. £1 per person with an annual pass (payable on the day).

CRAFT ACTIVITY 24th & 25th August

Living History Crafts – 10.30am-12.30pm each day

Choose from a number of history crafts:

  • Design your own body armour
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden medieval carriage
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden knight on a horse
  • Decorate and assemble a wooden castle

 

Crafts are £2 each with an annual pass

COWBOYS, VIKINGS & TRAINS: Saturday 24th – Monday 26th August

The Trailblazers will be in town so mosey on down to the fort to meet the cowboys. Jorfor’s Hall Reenactment Group will be in the village and the Derwent Valley Light Railway will be running passenger trains all weekend. What a treat! FREE with an annual pass
