Our 1st century Roman fort will be the backdrop to Roman Week between Tues 21st and Friday 25th July.
Join us to experience life as a Roman soldier and citizen! Our fantastic Living History Interpreters will guide you through engaging demonstrations in a Living History Day on Thursday, 24th July, and there will be plenty of exciting activities for you to participate in during the week.
If you haven’t already got park admission, and to save time on the day, we recommend buying it online beforehand!
Here’s what we’ll be up to during Roman Week:
Make a Roman puppet amphitheater:
Decorate and construct a Roman amphitheater and some characters then act out a play using your puppets!
Theatre doubles up as a carry case so you can keep everything together!
Activity costs £3 per person with park admission.
Enjoy a Roman story, read in the Roman fort.

Taking place in the Roman Fort, the day will include:
- See a Roman on horseback and watch a weapon demonstration
- Onager and ballista talk and demonstration
- Roman cosmetics and hair demonstration
- Watch a Roman play
Optional mosaic coaster making at £4 per person with park admission (payable on the day).
