MUSEUM MONDAY – HARVESTING

Date/time: Monday 24th August, 11 am – 4 pm

Find out more about this important time in the farming year.

Activity: Make a foam vegetable magnet for £1.50 per person, with park admission.

 

 

Ancient Olympics

ANCIENT OLYMPICS

Date/time: Tuesday 25th August, 1.30 pm – 3 pm

Take part in the Ancient Olympics at Murton Park. With 7 events – each of which will have a children’s and adults’ category – which ones take your fancy?

 

  1. Stade – Short distance race
  2. Diskos – Discus throw
  3. Halma – Long jump
  4. Synoris– Chariot race
  5. Dolichos – Long-distance race
  6. Acontion – Javelin throw
  7. Kerykes kai salpinktai – Trumpeters and Heralds (seeing how loud they can announce)

Activity: Free with park admission.

 

MAKE GREEK TERRACOTTA POT

Date/time: Wednesday 26th August, 10.30 am – 12 pm

Decorate a pot, Greek-style.

Activity: £2.50, with park admission.

 

 ROMAN LIVING HISTORY DAY

Date/time: Thursday 27th August, 11 am – 3 pm

Head to our Roman fort to learn all about the Romans with our Living History team, which includes a horse display, games, food and bone carving.

Price: Free with park admission.

 

THE TRAILBLAZER COWBOYS

Date/time: Saturday 29th – Monday 31st August, 10 am – 4 pm

The Trailblazer Cowboys take up residence in the Western town of Murton.

Price: Free with park admission

 

DVLR TRAIN RIDES

Date/time: Saturday 29th – Monday 31st August, every 30 minutes, 11 am-4 pm (with a break at lunchtime)

Price: £1 per person per ride OR £5 for up to 5 people per day (ride as many times as you like).

Passenger train schedules are subject to safety regulations and weather conditions.

Tuesday 1st – Sunday 6th September

INTO THE DEEP: SEA MONSTERS, MERMAIDS & LEGENDS FROM THE SEA

Date/time: Tuesday 1st September, 10.30 am-12.30 pm

Dive beneath the waves and uncover the mysteries of the deep in this magical folklore-inspired workshop exploring mermaids, sea monsters and the legends hidden beneath the ocean surface. Young adventurers will explore mythical sea creatures and ocean legends through hands-on creative activities to make and take home.

Activities include:

  • Deep Sea Creature Terrarium: Create your own underwater habitat and capture a mysterious deep-sea creature in a terrarium of your own.
  • Make Your Own Mermaid or Kraken: Design and craft your own magical mermaid charm or fearsome Kraken monster inspired by ocean legends and folklore.

Perfect for curious and creative children who love myths, monsters, and all things under the sea!

Price: £4 per person, with park admission.

 

FOOTBALL SKILLS
